Ready to Help Move Our Mission Forward?

Volunteering with The HopeLine

Volunteers play an integral role in the success of our organization. Through volunteerism, The HopeLine is provided an extra set of hands that can help us in accomplishing our goals and completing urgent projects that directly benefit our community. For many, there are new skills to be learned, a strengthened professional aptitude, and it can be a great resume builder. For others, it’s the social connections and the reward of giving back.

As a volunteer or community service individual, you are able to work out the number of hours you can provide by speaking with our Director of Operations. If you have a need for your hours to be recorded, we can set you up with a schedule.

Volunteers help with…

  • Wrapping diapers

  • Distributing food and supplies

  • Stocking, inventory, and deliveries

  • Administrative tasks (answering phones, making copies, etc)

  • Cleaning and maintenance

Volunteer Spotlight

Meet Maria Lugo

Maria was born and raised in the South Bronx. She’s a mother of six and a grandmother to 15.

She has always enjoyed working with others, whether as a server or her career within the parks department. For over 20 years Maria has proudly given back through community service to various nonprofits.

At The HopeLine, she initially started as a client seeking our family services while raising her small children. After years as a long-time client, she felt compelled to donate her time and begin volunteering. She has moved along with us as we moved into different communities and now has celebrated over 10 years of ongoing service at The HopeLine.

Interested in Becoming an Intern?

Interns have also played a critical role in helping move our mission along. We work with four partnerships that connect interns to us and we hope you find a fit with us. As an intern, the amount of time you may provide will typically depend on the partnership agency you come through.

We currently partner with Housing Works, Fortune Society, MMCC Mosholu Montefiore Community Center-Work Progress Program, and MMCC Mosholu Montefiore Community Center-Opportunity Youth.
